The T162-7844A(60kW) and T162-8144A(120kW) are high power RF pulse modulated Power Generators which consist of an oscillator unit, an output control unit, a power amplifier unit, a power combining unit, a PLC control unit.

【T162-7844A 60kW】 |
The T162-7844A has a DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) in an oscillating unit, and can set read frequencies by way of a touch panel and a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).

Three pre frequencies (f1, f2, and f3) are independently controlled. Sweeptimes of f1 to f2 and f2 to f3, and the holding time of f2 can also be set and read with the PLC. You can change the frequency (f1→f2→f3) in a pulse without generating discontinuity in phases.

The output control unit turns the RF signal on and off, detects signals from the directional coupler built into the power combining unit, and displays forward wave and reflected wave power on the touch panel. For amplitude stabilization, feedback control is excuted within each pulse by using a forward wave detection signal.

The power amplifier unit is equipped with wideband amplifier circuit boards that can output 600W at CW (Countinuous Wave) using new circuits boards remodeled for pulses. These 16 pulse purposed boards are combined in one case as an amplifier unit of apporoximately 8kW. The drain voltage of FET is set at 140V, a value about three times larger than that of a commonly used FET amplifier (48V), so the drain current is suppressed to one third of a usual drain current. Therefore, voltage drop on a drain power line is reduced and a good pulse waveform with low sag can be generated.

A power combining unit combines eight amplifier units of 8kW, generating 60kW of RF power. A directional coupler built into this unit detects forward and reflected wave power and the detection signal is demodulated and utilized for feedback control of the power output.

A PLC control unit monitors the condition of each amplifier; turns RF power on and off; sets and reads output frequency; and reads and monitors repetition frequency, pulse width, and duty ratio of the gate pulse inputted from an external source. A ladder program is into built into the EPICS driver and allows communication between the host control system and Ethernet, and can easily be added to the host system.

The T162-8144A is a power source with power output increased up to 120kW by connecting a T162-7844A (described above) to a T146-7844B (identical to a T162-7844A but with the transmission unit and a part of the PLC control unit removed) or to a T041-8144A with coaxial tubes and modifying the PLC software.

Mismatch operation |

| The T146-7844B is necessary to convert an installed T162-7844A into a more high power one. The T146-7844B is produced by removing the transmission unit, the touch panel, and a part of the PLC module from the T162-7844. The Power Combiner(120kW) T041-8144A and coaxial tubes are necesarry separately. |

| Two 60kW power generators can be combined for use a 120kW power generator. Two pairs of coaxial tubes with same length are required to connect the two 60kW amplifier outputs and combiner. |
(3)Directional Coupler T051-8144A |
| The T051-8144A is a coaxial tube type directional coupler used to measure forward and reflection waves by connecting it to the power output and the load with coaxial tubes. As directional coupler are built in each power combiner, you can use them for measurement very near the load. |
